The 'New' DB Intercity 2 (Stadler KISS) - Dresden to Berlin Second Class Review

Hello, welcome back to another train trip report on my channel.

For today's video, I will be travelling with Deutsche Bahn (DB), on 'Der Neue Intercity'. That's the Stadler KISS variant of the Intercity 2 family of trains from Deutsche Bahn. This is a double-deck Intercity train, which is presently dedicated to the new Rostock-Berlin-Dresden route.

These trains are classed as DB 4110, and despite being described as 'new', they are in fact some three years old. The units are second hand from WESTbahn of Austria, who used them to compete with ÖBB on the Wien to Salzburg route. During the selling process, both ÖBB and DB expressed interest in purchasing the fleet, however in the end they were purchased by DB. With their maintenance base still being in Vienna/Wien, Austria, the units routinely cycle through an overnight train from Warnemünde to Wien, a nearly 15 hour journey in a seat!

Today's trip is from Dresden Hbf, where the train will call at Elsterwerda, Doberlug-Kirchain, Berlin-Schönefeld Flughafen/Airport (SXF), and Berlin Südkreuz, before finally arriving into Berlin Hbf. The train goes on to further destinations, including Rostock Hbf, and Warnemünde.

I hope you enjoy this week's video on this 'new' German InterCity train! :)
