After 2+ years on the road, here is what I recommend doing when you have pets and no AC. *Y’all know this, but I would NEVER put my cats in any danger. Their safety is my number one concern.*

• Have at least 2 forms of air circulation in your van! I have 2 Maxxair fans that blow in and out and 2 windows. When the fans are turned on, it creates an amazing wind tunnel.

• Have a pocket/partition door that separates the hottest part of the vehicle from the living space. You can also use an insulated & weighted curtain!
• FULLY INSULATE your van! My van is fully insulated and not like a regular vehicle.

• Invest in heavy duty window covers! I get mine from @vanmadegear and LOVE them! I travel for 85 degrees and below and spend most of my summer in the mountains.

• Get a hotel if there is a heat wave!

Other Notes:
• Make sure they have plenty of water!
• Put cold/wet towels on the ground for them to lay on.
• Have a camera to monitor them while you are running errands. I connect my @ring camera to my portable wifi jetpack from @verizon
• LEAVE YOUR CONTACT INFO ON YOUR DASH! Many don’t know your cats are totally fine and will try to help them.

The reason I chose to not have AC is because it takes too much power and I really don’t think I personally need it.

HOWEVER: If you have to stay somewhere that is HOT all summer and you have a place to plug your van in THEN I absolutely recommend getting AC!
