So many people think that "might has right" in all situations - it doesn't. Ferries don't have right of way either (unless you can quote a specific local "special" rule) Read the Rule book! The next thing people think is that you may ..."die defending your right of way" but that's not what is going on here as the smaller boat is clearly doing everything he can to get out of the way and probably did not have "right of way" (unless he was "downbound" on a river) If this took place on a river and the ferry was going "downbound", then it does indeed have right of way. I think this was not on a river so neither vessel had right of way, so what was the ferry doing still charging ahead?... and don't tell me that it takes a long time for a large vessel to stop because this ferry is really not that big and is only doing 8-knots or so anyway not 25 knots. I've driven full sized warships so trust me on that one...
