Vikrant Pande and Neelesh Kulkarni's quest to retrace Rama's mythical journeys during his years in exile began when they tried to locate Chitrakoot on a map and realized they had no idea where it was. Curios about the locations described in the Ramayana, they embarked on their own voyage, tracing Rama's path from Ayodhya through the Dandakaranya forest and Panchavati (near Nashik), and then on to Kishkindhya (near Hampi), Rameshwaram, and Sri Lanka.
