In November of 2018, I took an epic trip through India for the second time in less than a year. For this trip, I spent 18 days exploring seven new cities (Pune, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad), where I had the pleasure of experiencing more of the country’s historical, cultural, and culinary wonders with my travel buddy Sam from Samuel & Audrey!

After getting an unexpected extra day in Kolkata, it was hard to believe our four days in the city were already at an end. With six cities on our itinerary done and just one left, the end of our incredible trip was just on the horizon. But we still had to enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of the UNESCO World Heritage City of Ahmedabad! Come along with us as we travel from Kolkata to Ahmedabad!

After buying lots of gifts the previous day, I was nervous about flying with my luggage, which was still overweight even though I’d gotten rid of several personal items to make room for them. Our flight was delayed until 11 p.m., but we started our journey to the airport early enough so we’d have time to chill out and eat beforehand.

One comfortable, but traffic-filled, one-hour Uber XL ride later, we arrived at the airport and checked in. My luggage was 13 kilos over the Indigo Airlines maximum of 15 kilos, but I was only charged for 10 extra kilos, which came to $60 U.S. Nice guy!

We headed to The Irish House with our hearts set on some Irish beers, but there were none available, so we got a Kingfisher instead. As we sipped our beer, we reminisced about the delicious and underrated food of Kolkata and discussed our work ethic and expectations for ourselves before diving into some tasty and crispy fish and chips and discussing our favorite fish and chips dishes we’d ever tried.

With our flight delayed another 25 minutes, tensions at the gate were flaring, but we eventually boarded, rode out to the plane, and took our seats. After a 140-minute flight, we landed in Ahmedabad a little after 1 a.m. and met some friendly Gujarati people as we made our way to pick up our luggage. My bag was the last to come out, and then we went to grab an Uber.

After a few issues with getting an Uber, we finally got one and rode to our Airbnb and took the elevator to our apartment the fifth floor. We didn’t get there until 4 a.m., and with a busy day ahead of us, it was time to grab a few hours of sleep!
