A Train Travels On An Impressive Bridge 194 Feet Above The Snake River

A train led by two Canadian Pacific diesel locomotives travels high above the Snake River in Eastern Washington on a bridge built more than 100 years ago!

At the time it was built, the Joso High Bridge was the longest and tallest railroad bridge in the world. It shaved four and a half hours off the time it used to take for trains to travel from Portland, Oregon to Spokane, Washington.

The bridge is 3920 feet long, incorporates 24 steel tower supports, and stands nearly 200 feet above the level of the Snake River. It's a spectacular sight in an arid landscape dominated by desolate rocky cliffs!

Not shown in this video is the Lyons Ferry Bridge, which is also quite something to see. It carries automobiles over the river, and is located just to the east of the railroad bridge. These two gorgeous bridges are about a 90-minute drive from the Tri Cities of Richland, Kennewick, and Pasco. If you make the trip, be sure to also visit nearby Palouse Falls State Park.

This video was shot with a DJI Mini 2 drone, which does not record audio. Therefore, in lieu of hearing the sounds of the train as it travels over the bridge, I have used the song "Gold In Them Hills" by Nathan Moore on the soundtrack.
